Lo que opina Vaughan sobre el discurso de ANA BOTELLA

Todos conocemos a Richard Vaughan por sus clases de inglés televisadas a diario y sus métodos de enseñanza. ¿Qué opina él sobre el discurso de Ana Botella, tan criticado por esa pronunciación y esos "intentos de hacer gracia" con el relaxing cup of café con leche? 

Entre sus opiniones encontramos argumentos como: 

• El discurso estaba muy ensayado y se entiende perfectamente por un angloparlante
• El español por genética es criticón y critica para hacer daño. Este discurso en otro país no hubiera creado tanta polémica. 
• No tiene una pronunciación perfecta pero nadie la tiene. Todos los españoles a criticar y a ver qué español lo hace mejor. 
• La enseñanza del inglés debería cambiar y los alumnos NO tendrían que hacer exámenes hasta los 14 años. Se aprende como si fuera una lengua muerta, todo gramática. Hay que aprenderlo en situaciones reales. 
• Hay que empezar escuchando inglés desde muy pequeñito. Así nadie tendría vergüenza a usarlo.

Hi everyone!! 

How are you? After this long and unforgettable summer, it's time to relax, stop and GET BACK INTO THE ROUTINE. 

I will be with you throughout the year teaching you new words, expressions, interesting and curious things about the English language and culture and also, things I do in class with my students. Llegan por fin series infantiles en inglés para los más pequeños de la casa. En otoño, TVE lanzará LET'S CLAN, un canal infantil con series y dibujos en inglés para fomentar la lengua extranjera entre los más pequeños. 

Es fundamental que los niños empiecen a trabajar el inglés de forma inconsciente desde una edad temprana para adquirir vocabulario y estructuras básicas. Es cuando mejor y más rápido se aprende una lengua. Y qué mejor que viendo programas de dibujos que les motiven. Así que todos los que tengáis niños alrededor...¡estad atentos a la programación! 

THE LEAP DAY - THE LEAP YEAR

Some days ago, I was watching one of my favourite American shows (Modern Family)  and I learnt a new expression! 

THE LEAP DAY

Do you know the meaning of this word? The leap day is February 29. It's a date that usually occurs every four years . 

According to this, THE LEAP YEAR  is the year that contains an additional day. (año bisiesto).

Why do Spanish students find learning English so difficult?

In Spain, the percentage of students who fail English is always high. They fail English every single year. They don't know how to write, how to talk, how to read a text... they don't know anything or THEY THINK THEY DON'T KNOW... How is this possible if they have studied English since they started primary school? Is it because of teachers, books, methodologies, feelings of anxiety and embarrassment when using the language, lack of motivation? What do you think is/are the main reason/reasons for this failure? What about your experience?

THE BOOK DAY

Today, 23rd April we celebrate the book day, a very important day for readers and  literature lovers.  

To celebrate this day, I'm going to ask you three questions that I want you to answer: 

1. Are you reading any book at the moment? Which one? Do you like it or not? 

2. What is your favourite book? Is there any book that has been important in your life? 

3. What is the worst book you have ever read? 

The books can be in Spanish, English, Valencian....any language!
